Ohio providers develop action plans for new tobacco intervention, stage-based approach to tobacco services for people with mental illness and substance use disorders
Representatives from nine community-based organizations and a state psychiatric hospital in Ohio attended a one-day training for “Tobacco: Recovery Across the Continuum (TRAC)”, a stage-based motivational service model that helps people diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance use disorders reduce and eventually eliminate the use of tobacco products. The event provided practical information and useful strategies for implementing TRAC services and featured Carlo DiClemente and other presenters.

A brief TRAC consult regarding e-cigarettes, electronic nicotine delivery systems
The topic of e-cigarettes came up at a recent TRAC Program Leader Training, held in Cleveland on October 1st, so the "Tobacco: Recovery Across the Continuum (TRAC)" intitiative at the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University presents a summary regarding what is known to date about electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), what are commonly called "e-cigarettes."

Conference 2010 to celebrate ten years of EBPs in Ohio, combine annual SAMI-IDDT & SE events, as well as tobacco recovery
Save these dates! The Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University will host its next conference October 12, 13, and 14, 2010. The event, titled "Sustaining Evidence-Based Practices: The Next Ten Years", will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the State of Ohio's success with implementing EBPs for people diagnosed with mental illness. The event will highlight national EBP research and lessons-learned from EBP initiatives in Ohio and other states.

7 Core principles of supported employment, the evidence-based practice

Training event: IDDT implementation strategies for program leaders, team leaders
This two-day event on September 1 & 2 in Cleveland, Ohio is designed for program leaders and service-team leaders who are involved in the process of implementing a high-fidelity IDDT team. It offers practical ideas, resources, tools, and methods for succeeding with implementation. This event will emphasize interaction and collaboration among participants, who will engage in problem-solving and action-planning scenarios in small groups. 9th All-Ohio Institute on Community Psychiatry
The All-Ohio Institute is the creation of the Public Psychiatry Program at University Hospitals Case Medical Center and the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. It is designed as a multidisciplinary celebration of community mental-health services. This year's conference, presented in collaboration with the Winter Meeting of the American Association of Community Psychiatrists, focuses on the integration of mental health care with a variety of disciplines to enhance care to consumers. Special attention will be given to the integration of mental health and physical healthcare, trauma-informed care and disaster mental health. The event will take place on Friday, March 20 & Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Hilton Cleveland East/Beachwood Cleveland, Ohio.
